When We released the trailer for Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis on youtube someone said "you gave away your entire movie in the trailer" and I was like "really" ? this person after seeiing the movie emailed me and said "Wow was I wrong that was a twist I didn't see coming"
I have been getting about a dozen emails a day about my thoughts on the trailers for the following movies Batman V Superman, TMNT 2 and Star Wars VII and I it's become such a part of the simple task of checking e-mail that I figured that I should write a blog and talk about each one and answer how I feel about the Trailers so lets get started....
STAR WARS VII : The Force Awakens
Then again most people that watched Episodes I - III weren't Superfans and that's something that the die hard fans fail to see, these movies along with VII are made to create NEW fans. While there are nods to the original series and even episodes I - III they made VII in a way that a new fan could follow the movie without having to see the other 6 films.
These films work well as trilogies you can watch IV - VI and know a complete story, watch I - III and that is a complete story, yes they all connect but you don't have to see I - III to understand the story on IV - VI, does that make sense to you ? That's the point of a trilogy really and it's an art form in itself weather your talking books or movies.
As a fan of the movies I watched them all many times and never read the comics or books and the beauty of the movies s you don't have to read comics or the books to be able to follow the story of the films as odd as that sounds the movies are made in a way that casual fans can follow along.
As for the trailer and my thoughts I LOVED this trailer it was visually STUNNING and as a fan of the other films I want to see this movie and I'm very interested in the story and more importantly where i can and will do with the next two films. I have wached a bunch of stuff on you tube about this theory or that theory about what could or might happen in The Force Awakens and n one hand I understand why fans do thes things but on the other I don't get it, I'm a different type of fan I guess, I watch trailers but don't get to invested in them as to say, I won't see a movie because this or that was in the trailer.
I really enjoyed the trialer overall and love the new droid sidekick BB8 and villian Kylo Ren looks amazing as well but I'm not sure he's the main villian of the first film, we'll see on Friday.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2
This trailer will invite both long time fans and new fans to this movie and there will be a good mix of the two. I can't wait for this movie to come out in June 2016 !
Batman V Superman : Dawn of Justice
This goes back to what I said earlier with fans going nuts with speculation, these movies are being put out to attract the casual fan just as much (if not more then) the die hard comic book fan, I read the Death of Superman comic book years ago and thought it was great, I couldn't wait for it to be in a movie, with that said I also think it needed time to evolve and now with the success of comic book movies they decided this was the right time to have Batman face off against Superman. How much if the movie are they actually fighting each other, they have to bring in Wonder Woman, Aquaman, supposedly the Flash makes and appearance so there are alot of characters to bring into the story on their way to jump starting the Justice League franchise.
As far as Doomsday being the big villian in this movie he has to be (based on what we have seen) because Superman can defeat Lex Luthor alone, Batman could defeat him Alone and Wonder Woman could as well, while I understand Doomsday's sole purpose was to KILL Superman in the comic I think they could pull a fast one on fans in this movie IF this is the REAL Doomsday and not just Lexcorps first (failed) attempt to create him by having Doomsday escape the planet and come back to earth later when he is stronger and honestly more "Doomsday" like.
I don't think the trailer revealed EVERYTHING that will happen in the movie, Aquaman wasn't revealed, neither was the Flash, so there are two plot points that we know about that weren't even touched in the trailer.
I thought the trailer was AMAZING, visually stunning, complex, alittle bit funny with the Lex dialog, this movie will be huge when it comes out.
In Closing .....
Star Wars The Force Awakens : Where is Luke Skywalker ?? Who is Kylo Ren ?
TMNT Are we going to see Kang ?
Batman V Superman : Is this the REAL "Doomsday" ? Where Are Aquaman and The Flash ? What is Lex Luthor's end game in the movie, is he simply there to create Doomsday or does he have other things going on ? Why does he have a huge krytonite rock? Is he experimenting with it? If so why?
Notice there are MORE questions about Batman V Superman from a casual fan ? That's the point :)
Studios put so much into trailers to gain casual fans attention, they know the die hard fans are IN to see the movie but they want to bring in casual fans and make them die hard fans for the NEXT movie in the series. it's business simpl put it's all to further their business .
Stay Tuned & Stay Wicked !
