I'm a fan of Mr. Leto's and of the Joker and here is my take on this whole thing from the beginning ....
I loved this character when I was a kid watching Batman before school at my grandparents house . I've always had a good relationship with the Joker character because I'm a bit of a joker myself .
Mr. Romero did the best he could with what he had to work with, it was TV in the 60's and back then you couldn't get away with half the stuff you can in 2016 .
This was by far the best Joker to date because it was seen on the big screen . Mr. Nicholson did a brilliant job with the role and really took the Joker in a direction that few could take it and make it work .
Mr. Ledger much like Mr. NIcholson buried himself in the character and became the Joker during the filming of the movie, this is a credit to their acting ability as well as their commitment to the role and in turn the movie . This version of the joker was called an "Agent of chaos" which is something completely different then Mr. Nicholson's Joker who was more about Killing off the greed of Gotham with his "Joker gas" and his Joker products (Which was an awesome story line IMO)
I enjoy this Joker because he seems to not care about anything but causing chaos and who ever her hurts in the process is just gravy on top of the chaos . He's so twisted that the story of how he got his scares changes every time he tells it in the movie . There has been speculation that the Joker in the Dark Knight is a Irag war veteran who "never came home" after the war and just lost it (Good idea but would kill the Joker for many many fans)
Part of the Jokers charm (for me anyway) is that no one really knows where he came from, what made him into the man he is today and he's never really given a solid answer to those questions through out his sorted history .
How can you talk about an actors performance before you see it ? How can you judge a film before it hits theaters ?? You shouldn't because you might be surprised what you get from a film if you go in without any formed opinions before hand .
Do I think Mr. Leto's performance will be on par with Mr. Nicholson's or Mr. Ledger's ? Who knows . Do I want to see this movie as a fan of the Joker ? Hell yeah ! Do I like / love everything I have seen about The Joker and the movie, no but I'm going to sit there and watch the movie and form an opinion AFTER seeing the entire movie .
My thought process is that they are saving many of the Joker's finer moments in SS for the actual movie and just giving fans a very small taste of Joker to get us excited about the movie (It worked in my case because I didn't care about the Suicide Squad movie UNTIL I heard the Joker was going to be in it .
When I found out they cast Jared Leto I was taken aback alittle because like many of you I thought "Can he handle such a role" ? and then I remembered his Oscar winning performance in The Dallas Buyers Club and said Hell yeah he can make this happen I'm not going to judge his entire performance based on trailers and clips of the movie like many of you have and will continue to do until the movie comes out in August .
One thing both Comic fans and casual fans have to remember is that all the actors I've mentioned in this blog have had so much source material to pull from with the Batman Comics so all of these actors have played different versions of the ICONIC Joker to leave their mark on him and make the character their own .
There have been so many changes to the character over the years (decades) in the comic book world it's not a hard sell to say that each actor that takes on this role was taking for different source material and thus creating a different Joker in each film, Just some food for thought ....
P.S. I Love Mr. Mark Hamill as the voice of Joker in several Animated shows and movies :)
STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :)
