With all that said I want to make it clear that I'm not complaining about having to act in my movie because being 100% honest I would have done almost anything to keep the film moving forward and while it was often difficult to act in a scene, do makeup for the scene and to direct the scene I did enjoy being a part of the film in the end. I did have help with the direction of my scenes from Chris Fyfe who helped me through the difficult scenes when I had to rewrite them on set during production. (Again Chris is a life saver)
It became a running joke whenever I would make a mistake or screw up a line I would say "This is why I'm a director NOT an actor" Whick Leads me to the reason I started writing this blog ....
Shooting A Pitch Video For Crowdfunding ....
My biggest issue with shooting videos is that they can be and often are very time consuming and it's not something that I enjoy doing, I shoot Movie review videos and it can take me HOURS to shoot a single 5 - 10 minute video.
It took me 9 hours over the span of two days to get the latest video made the pitch part of this video runs alittle longer then FIVE MINUTES and it was so hard, I would skip a word or not know what to say next and as it got later and later into the night I would get tired and I simply just couldn't do it anymore so I ran around town and did some shopping with my wife (got chips for tonight's ROH 14th Anniversary PPV) and thought about how I could shorten the time on the video if I condensed my thoughts while still getting my point across.
Once I got rolling and got it down to making a simple mistake a few (hundred) times, I was able to finally get the video well enough to where with alittle editing Chris can make it work and toss a teaser trailer on it, I'm happy.
I enjoy talking about my work and engaging fans on a global scale but prefer to do it on social media or via e-mail because it's not on video where a million and one things can go wrong and cause a reshoot. I mean how hard should it be to sit in front of a camera and talk about my movies and the art of film making that I'm so passionate about ?? Apparently it's harder then it looks folks but much like rewrites they are a part of the job that you really can't work around.
Always chase you dreams and never let anyone tell you that you can't make them happen because it's not true, I took an idea and was able to make the "impossible" happen because I found the right people to work with to help me make my dreams come true and you can too .
STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :)
