QUESTION : Why did you start writing ??
ANSWER : I'm an athlete and a wrestler to be more specific and I like many other crazy people did what's called "Backyard" wrestling. I'm not ashamed of it one bit. I put in alot of time on the wrestling mats in middle school and high school until I was sidelined with Athsma and the school would no longer allow me to wrestle.
I still had the passion to compete and I had the skill set so I decided to start a wrestling league of my own with some buddies and we got together on weekends and wrestled. we had championship belts and the while nine yards. Now at first it was as simple as "may the best man win". and that's they way we wanted it. we would draw small crowds filled with friends and family to the shows but matches were very short because the boys would wrestle the "school boy" style matches that just doesn't work for drawing a crowd or make for exciting matches.
So we started scripting our matches like WWE does. so to script matches what do you need ? A writer or "Booker" I took the job and started writing the storylines and the cards and all of that my official title was Creative Director. I did this for about 25 years all the while working as an in ring talent as well.
When I "retired" from wrestling I needed something to keep my creative juices flowing so I started writing scripts. I watched videos on youtube about screenwriting and the three act structure and learned as much as I could before I ever started writing, I went and saw Rob Zombie's Halloween II in the theater and decided I wanted to write a fan fiction script for Halloween III (knowing that I would never turn it into anything just a writing exercise. I write enough of a story that I ended up writing Halloween III and Halloween IV in the Rob Zombie Halloween storyline and I knew I wanted to write more and I knew that I wanted to write original works and I started shortly after that. I started writing as much as I could working on scripts when ever I could, I also decided to learn as much as I could about doing Makeup FX so I watched videos on Youtube and learned basic techniques for that to be able to do my own makeup FX on set.
QUESTION : Why do you want to make movies ??
Answer : I want to make movies because it's a great adventure for me to go on as a person and as an artist, I feel that making movies does alot for me personally and for the genre of entertainment. My main goal in making movies is to leave my mark on the film industry for future generations and for my three kids to look back and say "My Dad made movies for a living" .
I really want to inspire someone else to chase their dream of making movies, writing books, creating a comic book hero whatever it may be. Nothing is impossible if you believe you can make it happen. Most people will tell you that Money and fame are the main goal in film making and for me it's not I can honestly say that. I live in a small Maine town that Stephen King frequents in the summer months (Yes I have met him) fame isn't important to me, if it happens fine if not I'll be just as happy. Money would be great but if it doesn't happen I'm still happy because film making for me is about the art and leaving my mark on the genre.
Someone asked me what I want to be remembered for writing, directing or makeup FX? I said that's a great question and my answer is which ever one YOU think I did the best.
I hope that answers your questions and THANK YOU ALL for your continued Support of Wicked Carnival Productions we look forward to bringing you as many movies as we can :)
