People often ask me what it's like to pour all this time and effort into making a movie only to see it "fail to make money" and I usually say to them "Money isn't the only thing that matters in life" . I have recently discovered a new quote that fits me perfectly and that is "I do this for the passion not the paycheck" . I think once you start doing anything for the money you've already lost the fight, I write screenplays because I'm passionate about storytelling, I make movies because I'm passionate about creating movies for my fellow horror fans . I often tell people that if Chris and I continue to release quality movies from Wicked Carnival Productions the money will eventually take care of itself and then it will be off to the races .
Now I want to talk about Maximum Effort and what it means to me . I say the words "Maximum Effort" every morning when I put my feet on the floor because I want to tell myself that everyday is going to be a maximum effort day . Yes it's a quote from Deadpool but it's something that makes me focus on things and make sure I'm doing everything I can possibly do to make things happen every single day . I'm not talking about major things every day but making alittle progress each day is always a step in the right direction, right?
Now of course there are days that no advancement is made and a set back occurs and those days are bound to happen but I'm not going to let that get me down because myself and Wicked Carnival Productions are leaps and bounds ahead of where we were when this crazy things first started and I try to remember that on the hard days because I started with nothing and with the help of my amazing cast and crew I've been blessed with two finished movies. I've said it a million times and I'll say it a million more this dream wouldn't be possible without Chris Fyfe, White Pines Digital Studios and Fyfe Media Company . I know and understand that no one makes it on their own, everyone has help from the people around them and in film making that is very very true, my cast and crew joined me on the wild, crazy journey that was the filming of Sins of Man : Rise of Mortis in 2015 not knowing if we could actually make this all happen and through thick and thin we all stuck together and made it happen for each other . I've said in interviews " I can do this without my cast and crew and they can't do it without me as the director. "
We all worked through long hours, long ass car rides long breaks because we had to do alot of shit on the fly but when that movie was finished and we all got to see it it was like "Look at what we accomplished together" . Going into Sins of Man II : Vengeance I was a much more confident director and had a better handle on making changes on the fly because I would almost expect shit to go sideways on a daily basis and I would have a plan or Chris would come up with something to make it all work that day . We had to make changes because some cast members failed to show up on set and changes needed to be made to the story but we all made it work the best we could . Film making is a TEAM EFFORT and when your team is putting forward MAXIMUM EFFORT things work 100 times better !
This blog started out on a negative note and I did what I always do I turn negatives into positives because "life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it" that is a quote that I live by originally said by one of the people I've looked up to for a long time "Diamond" Dallas Page .
