While I didn't have alot to say on the first episode I made up for it with the long winded second episode and then figured out how to cut the time in half . I've tried since day one talk about topics that not only interest me but I hope interest my listeners .
Like when I announced I was going to start making movies I got the same amount of resistance from people when I announced that I would be doing a weekly podcast . People would say that I can't do that, I don't know what I'm doing and I have no business doing it, well the same can be said for 90% of the people we elect to ruin I mena run the country and no one hears me bitchin' about them .
I'm a firm believer in letting people do the things that make them happy and not judging everyone for every little thing they do, you know you do your thing and I'll do mine . Is this a bad way to handle things, maybe but it works for me .
I have always been this way with things, I don't take alot of time to over think things at first, I jump in head first and work my ass off to make it happen no matter what it is, some have told me that that is my lack of maturity showing but I look at it like this. I know that I tend to overthink things and by doing so I tend to talk myself out of doing things and don't want to miss out on an opportunity to do something amazing by overthinking it and ultimately talking myself out of doing it .
I wrote a script for Halloween III to follow Rob Zombie's H2 and I knew I couldn't do anything with it because legally I had no right to even write about those characters, I then learned about fan fiction and looked at the 5 month project as just that fan fiction . I knew from completing that script that I could write a screenplay, what I didn't know was if I could write an original screenplay and then take it to the next step .
So I I was working on screenplays of all sorts, action, drama, romance and one night I was having trouble sleeping and my wife gave me a Melatonin pill so I could get some peaceful sleep, well that plan backfired in a way because I had the worst nightmare I can ever remember having. long story short I woke up the next morning and wrote down everything I could remember about the nightmare and started working on a story based on those elements. a few weeks later I had an outline and I started writing what would be my first horror script .
I then after writing a dozen drafts of the script and talking to several folks within the industry about the budget to make this movie and coming up with a number upwards of $100,000 dollars shelved the project and waiting for another brilliant idea to come my way and one January night I watched John Carpenter's Halloween and Scream back to back and started to think about what I would do in a horror movie differently and started writing characters and locations and working on it when I could . In mid May of 2013 after writing several other scripts in different genres I took out the notes I had written for this horror movie and started writing the script and wrote it in a week, then wrote a sequel after another week and then wrote part III in another week so in less then a month I had written what would come to be known as the Sins of Man trilogy and It was off to the races so to speak .
Like I said it's the same way with the podcast I just put the camera on and put the headphones on and started talking, I learned along the way and I'm still learning how to do both the podcast and make better movies . it's been 5 months almost six for the podcast and I'm still working on the format and feel of the show .
I get asked often about the direction of the show and how I have too many interests to talk about on the show but I feel that I should talk about Star Wars, Arrow, The Flash, Scream, Scream Queens, Lucifer etc. on the show so it has alittle bit for everyone. I don't want to appeal to just the horror fans of the internet because while I LOVE Horror movies I'm more then just a horror fan, I'm a sports fa, I love the DC CW universe I love Marvel's Agents of Shield, Gotham, Lucifer, Leathal Weapon, and alot of other shows. Why shouldn't I talk about those things and so much more on the show ?
In closing I would just like to say that during every show I give out the email to send mail to if you have suggestions for the show and not many people reach out to me so I've asked you all to help me mold the show into what YOU want it to be and you haven't so that's why it's been a mix of everything so far. if you have a suggestion EMAIL [email protected] and lets talk about it .
I LOVE doing The Maine Morgue Podcast and writing, directing, acting in and doing the Makeup FX for movies and I will continue to do my best at both joba and hopefully more and more folks will join the team as time goes along .
May The Force Be With You, Always .
