I think when we looked at the script the movie takes place over 5 days and nights which I guess is a long time for a horror movie to take to run it's course, is it ?? Seriously I would like to hear from fans about this .
Friday The 13th takes place over one day / night and the next morning which that was a very fast paced film with a victim or a pair of tits every 7 minutes and it worked for them Kudos to them for making a masterpiece that is still watched and loved 35+ years later .
I have a tendency to write movies that take place over 3, 4, 5, days because I enjoy writing in a way that allows for the slow burn and a build up of tension until the big reveal at the end of the movie . I guess that doesn't always work with some audiences and I guess's not on me as a film maker .
The project I'm working on (currently in the outline stage) also takes place over four days and I know I could set it up so it's a shorter story but I can't shake the format of building the tension slowly and then having a fury of chaos during the finale .
I think if I did decide to do a fast paced film it might not work well with audiences either because when I say "fast paced" I would have a kill every 5 minutes and ther ewould be alot of action and not a decent story (that's my fear) I think movies across all genres NEED story to make them work with out a story you have a bunch of stuff that might not make sense to the folks watching the film ..
STAY HUMBLE, STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS :)
