Gaining Confidence ....
Why my confidence has been growing is because I know I can make this movie because I have one under my belt and I learned so much in the last year that I was 100 times more prepared to be on set this year . I have a clear picture and a partner in Chris Fyfe who knows me, what I want etc. A great example would be on the first weekend of shooting this year we had two locations and I was at one waiting for cast members and we were going to go to the second location after they arrived . Well on cast member was over an hour late so I called Chris and he said "where the hell are you" ? I said "Still waiting for cast to arrive" so he said okay we don't want to fall too far behind so I'm gonna shoot this scene and we'll meet back there" I said "Okay you know what I want from that scene, go ahead and I'll see you soon" .
A Year ago that wouldn't have happened but because I'm confident in my abilities and I trust Chris because we both have the same vision for the movie I was able to trust that he would capture exactly what I want in that scene . As I make each film I know my confidence will grow and I will gain a bigger fan base which is cool and I also know that I will become a better film maker in the process .
Making A Difference ....
There is also making a difference in the community and this is something that I really feel is important for me personally . I hand out meals with the community outreach program in the Summer for the kids in my area and love doing it but I always have the idea that I want to do more so I'm looking nto doing more to help those around me who have helped me in some way weather it was being cool when I was filming late at night down by the Police station last Saturday Night or shooting at the Community Center last year or this year, I feel that I should do something to better my community .
Making a difference could also mean giving money to a charitable cause like the American Heart Association or Susan G. Komen For a Cure or the Special Olympics which hold a special place in my heart as I was a Special Olympian when I was in school .
I know I want to give money to charity when I'm able and I will because being able to help others is something I really want to do because my mother raised me right to always help someone in need if I could because I was once where they are and someone helped me along the way .. Thanks Mom for raising me right :)
Leaving My Mark ....
Note : If you haven't ever lived in New England you don't know what it's like here, just because you have seen Maine in movies and read about Maine in Stephen King books doesn't mean you know what it's like to live here ...
Note : What in the blue hell is "New England woodsy horror" ?? I've lived here basically my whole life and have no freakin' clue what the hell this guy is talking about ??
This bugged me since I read it until I read the date of the post which was more then a month PRIOR the release of the movie on DVD so I immediately dismissed this quote and the rest of the nonsense that came from this persons finger tips .
This person judged the entire film from a teaser trailer that was 2 minutes and 32 seconds long and probably to this day hasn't seen the movie but was compelled enough to become a "Keyboard Warrior" and tell everyone that reads his stuff that my movie which he hadn't seen at the tme he wrote the article will not leave a mark on the sub-genre or the genre in general but it left enough of a mark on you to take the time to write about it on your website so I must be doing something right then .
The mark I want to leave on the world is that if a guy like me from a small town in Maine can make a movie with no money, no experience with nothing but a team of cast / crew that believe in him and a camcorder can make a movie ANYONE can do it, you don't need a ton of money or experience you need a script, a camera, cast and crew and to believe in yourself that you can make it happen, if you have all those things YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO, I did and you can too .
I want to leave a mark on the world that I did what I could to make this world a better place maybe not with my films but with my actions off set and behind the scenes by using what I have to give back to charity and help my community not because I feel obligated to do it but because I think it's important to help people along the way because someone helped me get to where I am right now and were I want to go in the future ..
