directed the film. This film is a perfect example of everything right in horror. Michael Myers played by Will Sandin (Michael age 6) Tony Moran (Michael Age 23) and Nick Castle as "The Shape" . Jamie Lee Curtis plat Laurie Strode and the late Donald Pleasence played the ICONIC role fof Dr. Samuel Loomis .
Sure there were mistakes or bloopers that were caught on camera but this movie tells an amazing story and does it to perfection, I'm sure other fans could pick apart this movie and that's fine but to me its as close to a perfect horror film as you can get.
Jamie Lee Curtis returned as Laurie Strode, Donald Pleasence returned as Dr. Loomis Micahel Myers was played by Dick Warlock in this movie.
This film is also well made and brillant in many ways. the gore was slightly higher but they still kept the suspense and building the tension. a great sequel to the original in many ways and they "ended" the Michael / Laurie storyline in an effective way.
Laurie Strode has been in hiding in the witness protection program for 20 years under the assumed name Keri Tate she is the head mistress of a private school in California she has a son named John. (Apparently his father is Jimmy from Halloween II)
This movie ends the Halloween "Trilogy" perfectly in my opinion with a great ending that leaves n doubt that the "boogeyman" is dead .
Zombie didn't change Michael's backstory he simply told MORE of it to give a more clear reason for his murderous ways. Scout Compton (my reigning Woman Crush Wednesday) played Laurie Strode Dr. Samuel Loomis was played by Malcom McDowell and Michael was played by Daeg Faerch (Michael age 10) and Tyler Mane (Michael as an adult) .
This is another thing that fans dislike is Michael was "too big" that's the point, think about it like this Scout Compton (Laurie Strode) is 5'3" Danielle Harris (Annie Brackett) is 5' while Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) is 6'8" the height difference leads to fear. I wouldn't be afraid of a guy my size but guy that towers over me would scare me and that my friends is what Rob Zombie was trying to do with his Michael.
People often bitch about the white horse and "hobo" Michael this pisses me off because the white horse is explained in the opening of the movie with a title card and then in the first scene in the movie for Christ's sake as far as "hobo" Michael would you be wearing your Sunday best if you had been living off whatever you could steal ? I don't think so the look of Michael lends itself the look of Michael being more realistic, think about it for a minute back in the original Michael never really looked battle worn his jump suit was clean(ish) and his mask was always white like it was brand new while Rob Zombie showed the battle worn jumpsuit and tattered mask. as far as the long hair and beard it's not like Mikey could just go get haircut and a shave at thr barber shop, could he ? The point is Rob Zombie's Michael Myers was more realistic then the previous ones, period ! and the storyline of this movie was missed by many fans it was more about Laurie Strode's (Angel Myers) slow decent into madness just like her brother then the murderous rampage of Michael .
l feel that MOST of the fans that didn't like this movie didn't like it because they didn't get it and that pissed them off, let me explain this further, when fans watch a slasher movie they care about blood, guts, gore and violence NOT a complex Story that they have to watch closely to follow and that my friends is exactly what Rob Zombie's H2 is because it was MORE then just mindless blood, guts and gore, rewatch the movie and actually pay attention and you just might have a different opinion of this movie.
Lastly I think the fan base was pissed off because at the end of the directors cut of the movie Angel and Michael are dead and Rob Zombie had done something that no one else in the whole series did he ended the story in TWO movies .
One thing they really missed the mark on was the opportunity o close the story of the two kids Laurie was watching on Halloween in 1978 Tommy Doyle and Lindsey Wallace, now if you believe the internet supposedly the girl who drives Rachel and Jamie to the drug store is an adult Lindsey Wallace but that's not confirmed .
I enjoyed this movie I love the development between Rachel and Jamie as well as the teenage love triangle. I didn't like some of the kills like the girl getting stabbed through the belly with the shotgun. (complete bullshit)
But over all I really did enjoy the movie and was very happy to see Michael back doing his thing in Haddonfield.
1989's Halloween 5 The Revenge Of Michael Myers is next on the list and is the second film in the Jamie Lloyd / Michael Myers Trilogy, written by Michael Jacobs, Shem Bitterman and Dominique Othenin-Girard who also directed the film . This installment starts the late Donald Pleasence as Dr. Loomis and Danielle Harris as Jamie Lloyd as well as the returning Ellie Cornell playing Rachel Coruthers . This to me is the one film that really had almost missed it's mark, I didn't like the way Michael survived the mine shaft. I thought maybe there were going to go with Jamie picking up where her uncle left off which I don't think I would have liked either much like I didn't like the fake Jason in Friday The 13th part V, what is it with part 3 and part 5 of these franchises is there a clause in the contract that says these are the films we have to fuck with the franchise with, WTF !? The acting was good for a slasher movie, I like that they tried to link the movies together but fell shot in my opinion. there were many things they did right but just as many (if not more) that they did wrong and in all fairness it is the fifth installment in the series so how much new and / or original stuff could they really bring to the table on this one ? |
The movie stars a young Paul (Steven) Rudd as the adult Tommy Doyle (who was last seen in the 1978 original film) as well as Marianne Hagan as Kara Strode ( a relative of Laurie.
The story that Tommy Doyle has been obsessed with Michael ever since that night nearly 20 years ago doesn't make much sense at all, think about it shouldn't he have been in Halloween 4 The Return of Michael Myers if he was obsessed with taking Michael down for good, he would have been in his late teens at that point not his late 20's like he is in this movie. This film to me was the film where they seemed to be just pulling story lines from a hat and making them work the best they could with it .....
This was a GOOD film on it's own and had it been titled Season of the Witch it would have done better in terms of the box office it makes ZERO sense to title this movie Halloween III because there is nothing that makes it a "Halloween" movie.
While I understand that they wanted to make Halloween an anthology series after Halloween II but they failed at it horribly, like many fans I feel without Michael there is no Halloween movie and that was the BIGGEST mistake of this movie.
The story was great the acting was good Tom Atkins was AMAZING in this movie. but most fans can't get over the title and don't like the good movie that lies behind the title card. rewatch this movie without thinking about the title and I think you just might enjoy this flick .
The acting was good but not great, while I like Busta Rhymes what the fuck was he doing in this movie, don't even get me started about Tyra Banks either WTF !?
I think this movie misses it's mark completely and almost has nothing of value in it but I will say I enjoyed the cyber stuff in the movie it brought the series up to date but still wasn't enough to save the movie yet really made some of the kills interesting in the way that they used the camera on the actors.
