I have alot to say about the world of film making and this blog is my way to reach out to a worldwide audience and fan base. I hope you enjoy the read and come grab our movies on DVD.
The script is tight, the characters are well written and my cast is amazing. I'm ready for anything that may happen on set. Last year I would get so flustered and angry if things changed last minute but now I've got a backup plan and a backup plan to the backup plan.
I'm focused like never before, I don';t know where this confidence is coming from but I like the way it makes me feel. I would usually check my gear, prop box, makeup kit a hundred times a day but I got it all together last night and haven't touched it since.
I'm proud of the script and all the promo pictures I've been working on and releasing on social media.
For the most part it's considered "cocky" or "Having an ego" for a director to have his name above the title of a movie and that's not the reason my name is there. I put my name above the title of this movie for two reasons #1 because it looks cool and #2 because I'm proud of the script of this project, I'm proud to direct the movie and I feel I've earned the right to put my name above the title.
People often say you have to leave your ego at the door and I tell them "My ego is what got me to the door why would I leave it there?" I'm not a cocky person but in this business like any form of entertainment you have to have a bit of an ego just to survive the trials and tribulations you go through in the early stages of your career.
I have a motto that I live by "Stay Humble, Stay Hungry." I always try to remember that it's a short trip from who I am right now to becoming an over confident, self center celebrity who has lost touch with reality. So I always remind myself to stay humble when someone wants to talk to me, asks for an autograph or to take a picture I try to grant each and every request because without the fans I'm just a guy making movies. The second part is stay hungry and that simply means that I never want to rest on what I've done in the past, I always want to challenge myself creatively and that's the core reason for this project I wanted to tackle short films to see if I 'm any good at it and I think this one is a good one, time will tell if I'm right.
One thing I've noticed is that I've had a much more hands on approach to this project and I think that has been one of the factors of my growing confidence. I'm getting used to the pressure of having to have all the answers to questions no one has even asked yet.
I really can't put into words how excited I am to start shooting this movie and get it out there for people to see. I say this about all my movies but I have a very good feeling about this one. The script was easy to write, the characters really came together nicely and the cast is amazing folks we got some top shelf cast members.
In closing I just want to say if you have a dream no matter if it's making movies, writing a book or creating a comic book hero CHASE THAT DREAM ! You never know what will happen if you don't try to reach that goal to quote Michael Jordan "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."
Stay Humble, Stay Hungry My Friends :)
